Solid spend trend

After a concerted effort and focus on our Indigenous suppliers we are delighted that our reporting identifies over $3 million has been spent with a range of Indigenous Businesses in 2019.

We were pleased to see our indigenous procurement strategies have resulted in a continued strong growth trend across our supplier categories, through our focused interaction with multiple Indigenous Businesses.

It is great to see that we have businesses ranging from medical services providers, site accommodation, PPE, printed materials, plant hire, labour hire, and catering.

Our latest reports show we actively engaged with 26 Indigenous Businesses (tripling the number of businesses over 3 years) to achieve this $3 million spend. Our major spend was with Karratha Village, providing accommodation for a major Pilbara project, Norwest Contracting supplying plant and Birra Personnel helping to provide people across our sites.

Our IPA team continue the process of identifying, supporting and developing Indigenous businesses to underpin our business, the clients and the communities in which we operate. As part of Indigenous Business Month, last October we celebrated some of the businesses that we have engaged with for multiple years and those we have formed relationships with more recently and we look forward to being able to share the development of this strategy throughout 2020.
