Our NRW Celebrations

This week the Corporate office in Perth celebrated National Reconciliation Week with a presentation by our Indigenous Business Team to all the staff. We discussed what reconciliation meant and the significant dates that mark this week in Sorry Day, the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and Mabo Day. We were lucky to have NEMMS JV Director and Nyiyaparli Traditional Owner Bruce Bung present along with Indigenous Business Manager and proud Noongar man, Jarrod Hayden to share their stories with us.

We reflected on the steps that we have taken as a company to work towards reconciliation. How our reconciliation journey is framed and guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan and how we felt there was still a long road ahead but we can continue to take small steps to navigate this.

We enjoyed morning tea provided by Kuditj catering, the use of traditional ingredients was enjoyed by the team.

A group of staff and their families attended a special NRW Movie Screening of Gurrumul hosted by Therapy Focus in the City. This movie featured Indigenous artist Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu “who was one of the most important and acclaimed voices to ever come out of Australia. Blind from birth, he found purpose and meaning through songs and music inspired by his community and country on Elcho Island in far North East Arnhem Land.”

The film moved the team and we were proud to be giving our staff an opportunity to get involved in cultural learning.

We look forward to sharing with you how our teams celebrated across the state.
