Celebrating Indigenous Business Month

NEMMS JV are celebrating this October’s Indigenous Business Month. We take this opportunity to celebrate our partners who are working hard to establish themselves in industry and to celebrate those Indigenous Business suppliers that we actively seek to service our growing supply demands.

Our Procurement and Indigenous Business Teams have built the supplier list in a considered way. We have a clear goal to increase the number of suppliers and overall Indigenous spend.

We are pleased to review these figures and show that from 2016 the number of businesses that we engage with has doubled from 9 to 20 and our spend has increased to $1.8 million. The businesses supply us with regional accommodation, uniforms, printed materials, signage, medical services and plant and equipment hire. We are increasingly encouraged by the myriad of services available that make it easy to engage with credible, efficient Aboriginal businesses.

Over the month we will showcase some of these businesses that we have been working with over the last year and how they help to fulfil our project needs. We want to celebrate the people behind these services.

Dr Michelle Evans Program Director, Murra Indigenous Business Masterclass Program says on indigenousbusinessmonth.com.au

“Indigenous entrepreneurs, both individually and collectively, are providing everyday acts of leadership, from working with clients, communities and consumers, to creating new market opportunities and income streams. This October we celebrate all forms of leadership across the diverse Indigenous business sector in Australia, specifically, we will be promoting Indigenous entrepreneurs that engage with community; Indigenous entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence in their industry; and Indigenous entrepreneurs who are also role models and ambassadors for their communities.”
